The annual trek across the 5-mile long Mackinac Bridge occurs on Labor Day,
the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. Walkers begin
in St. Ignace at the north end of the Bridge and walk south. The walk is
one-way, and bus transportation is available to return you to St. Ignace.

The premiere running/walking event with over 2400 participants!
The Mackinac Island Eight Mile Run and Walk will be held on Saturday,
September 11, 2004, with the start and finish at Mission Point. The race will
start in waves, with the first wave starting at 9:30 a.m. and others to follow
in 1 minute increments. Packet pick-up and late registration will be
held in the Sound Stage on race day, September 11th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m
Mission Point is located on the east side of the island, about 1/2 mile from
ferry docks (turn right from all ferry docks follow street to hotel. All
ferry lines will offer a discount to race registrants on Saturday morning.
Awards to overall and masters male and female and at least top five in run
divisions and at least top three in the walk divisions. Run & Walk Divisions:
12 & under, 13-15, 16-19 and five year increments to 70 & over
